Local character with more than fruit to offer
Date: Monday, 09 March 2015
I had the privilege of photographing some local orchard growers for the Central Otago Fruit Growers Association. The association covers orchards in the Cromwell, Alexandra, Roxbourgh and Ettrick areas. Earncy Weaver is the character featured in this blog. He is an orchard consultant born and breed here in Alexandra. At the time of the photo shoot, I could hear a big rumble of an engine and a trail of dust coming up the road. As the rumble came closer I knew that Earncy wasn't driving an ordinary car, I knew it was a classic. Before Earncy could say "gidday how are you" I got the first words in and said we so have to use this little beauty in the shot. His face lit up like a Christmas tree, we clicked there and then!
We had a blast creating the images and talking about the local history. You will be amazed what conversations I have in this job and the things you learn!.
